7-a-side – tasty! It’s been a struggle with numbers over the last few weeks but the club/I/you appreciate all your efforts.
And the Brazilians made it back from Cardiff and had press-ganged an Italian into playing as well. And with Turkey, England & Denmark also represented, we’ve suddenly become very cosmopolitan.
I think Oz opened the scoring with a trademark hoof. Ahmet replied with almost a carbon copy at the other end. I seem to be saying this a lot recently which means they’re being given the space to shoot, something we’ve all learned long ago not to do – poor defending. Come back Jeremy, all is forgiven! Then a tit-for-tat kind of game with alternate goals at either end. Several open goals were missed, Daniel with the pick of the bunch. Oz palmed away a couple of nice saves. Tufan scored a lovely solo dribble and he was subsequently called “Messi” by Paulo for the rest of the game – praise indeed! Possession was given away frequently. Paulo and Jean were their usual effective selves down the left wings with tricks galore. Oz hit the sweet spot on a volley. Followed by a collective gasp as the ball soared higher and further than we’ve ever seen before. No, higher than that. And further. Nope, keep going. There you go. Colin scored a tight-angled winner two minutes before the end.
